FMG Group Gets in the Spooky Spirit and Raises Money for Charity

Issued October 29 2004 Staff at Huddersfield-based fleet management company FMG Group had that haunting feeling yesterday (Thursday) when all employees came dressed in Halloween fancy dress. This was part of one of the regular theme days down at FMG House, which are designed to build team spirit and make FMG a great place to work.

Employees were in the pink and dressing up again today in order to raise money for the Breast Cancer Campaign. Staff were asked to wear something pink and donate a minimum of £1 to the charity.

Lucy Harris, operations manager at FMG Group, said: “There has been a fantastic atmosphere in the office for the last couple days and it’s great to see staff getting so involved with these initiatives, as well as helping to support the valuable work of the Breast Cancer Campaign.

“We hold a ‘dress down’ day once a month and ask staff to donate money each time, as well as having regular theme days. Our Hawaiian day in the summer was a great success and everyone’s now looking forward to the Christmas theme day – we’re expecting an office full of Santa Claus’!”

Claire Jackson of Milnbridge, won best dressed female as part of the Halloween day for her mummy costume, whilst ‘witch doctor’ Jonathan Stasiakis of Greenhead Park, picked up the prize for best dressed male.

A colouring competition was also held to involve employees’ children in the day with prizes going to David Roger aged 12, Chelsea Lemm aged seven, Holly and Sam Gledhill aged two and three – all from the Huddersfield area.

Nick Brown, FMG Group’s chief executive, concluded: “We value the contribution of all our employees to the continued success of the company and it’s important for us to hold events that help to keep a positive and happy atmosphere in the office. We’re delighted that staff get so involved with these activities and are looking forward to many more.”

Established in 1986, FMG Group is the UK’s largest independent provider of outsourced fleet management services, with customers ranging from owner-managed businesses to blue chip companies. It currently employs 170 people and has an annual turnover of £30m.
