FMG Support Appoints Nicholas Jeffrey to the Board
Issued June 16 2005 FMG Support, the UK’s largest independent provider of fleet performance improvement services, today announced the appointment of Nicholas Jeffrey as a non-executive director.
FMG Support has seen dramatic growth over the past year, increasing turnover by 60%. Jeffrey has been appointed to provide support for the continuing growth in order to realise the company’s strategic ambitions.
Jeffrey, 62, has a reputation for growing successful companies. He was chief executive and then chairman of the furniture retail chain Cantors plc, taking them from a turnover of £20 million to £200 million. He also managed its merger with Harvey’s Furnishings plc and the subsequent sale to Homestyle Furnishing plc. Since then he has held a number of non-executive directorships in a diverse range of industries including defence, property, distribution and telecommunications. He has experience of working with both listed and private companies and has led a total of eight companies to Initial Public Offering (IPO). Jeffrey is also chair of the board of governors at Sheffield Hallam University.
Commenting on his appointment, Nicholas Jeffrey said:
“FMG Support is at an exciting stage of development, with tremendous products, a robust and differentiating offering and blue chip customer base. As the fleet industry continues to evolve, the company has a strong platform and opportunity to grow its market-leading position by delivering even more value to its customers.”
In the past year, the company has seen a number of significant developments. This includes bringing its three areas of operation - fleet incident management, roadside repair and recovery management and vehicle rental management, under one banner - FMG Support.
This renewed focus, supported by powerful in-house developed software, Ingenium, has enabled the company to provide tailored technology-led solutions and outstanding levels of customer service. This has had a direct impact in the market, with brand names like Royal Mail moving its contract from the RAC to FMG Support.
Nick Brown, chief executive, FMG Support said:
“Nicholas’s pedigree speaks for itself. He has a great depth of experience in working with successful organisations like FMG Support, and his strategic counsel will be of great value as the company sets out to reach new heights and levels of achievement. It is vital that at our current stage of development, we have a strong management team that has the necessary experience to generate even more growth for the company.”
