FMG Support provides complete breakdown management solution for TLS Vehicle Rental

Issued June 02 2006 Seamlessly delivering excellence for its fleet of over 20,000 vehicles

TLS Vehicle Rental, a division of General Electric, has appointed FMG Support to provide a total outsourced breakdown management solution for its fleet of over 20,000 small to heavy commercial vehicles. Following a rigorous tender process, which included two of the UK’s leading breakdown providers, the appointment of FMG Support further enhances TLS’ fleet performance standards by integrating a tailored range of specialist recovery and repair services.

“Excellent service is at the heart of all of our operations, as we recognise that our customers’ businesses depend on the performance of the vehicles we supply. The efficiency of our breakdown service is an essential part of this, and it has been crucial to appoint a partner that can seamlessly manage the function, minimise VOR time, and ultimately add value to our high delivery standards.” Carl D’Ammassa, director of asset management, TLS Vehicle Rental.

FMG Support continues to provide its existing call-handling service to TLS, ensuring that jobs are routed to the most appropriate agent according to key criteria. Focused on minimising vehicle off road (VOR) time, the extended programme includes the co-ordination of every aspect of the 24-hour breakdown support function. This includes a complete incident management service for all vehicles that cannot be fixed at the roadside.

In addition to managing vehicles under manufacturers’ warranties, FMG Support has bolstered TLS’ national network coverage through its access to 1,350 workshops; this ensures that the most effective agent is identified and reaches customers in the quickest possible time. All linking, chasing and reporting is also undertaken by the team to provide an efficient permanent repair process.

FMG Support has demonstrated a remarkable level of understanding of our business and the flexibility to adapt solutions to the individual needs of our customers,” commented Carl D’Ammassa, director of asset management at TLS Vehicle Rental.

Intelligent, comprehensive reports provided by FMG Support’s management information system enables TLS to manage its service more effectively. The reports provide continual analysis of the fleet’s performance and monitor service delivery against specific key performance indicators. Through tracking incidents and the reasons behind them, TLS can accurately apportion loss recovery and present impartial evidence to negotiate service levels with manufacturers. Collectively, this allows TLS to maintain tighter control over its breakdown offering, ultimately improving its customer service and boosting overall effectiveness.

Nick Brown, chief executive, FMG Support, concluded, “An excellent working relationship has been built with the TLS management team, which ensures that they are provided with the best possible solution. We are delighted to be working with a company that shares the same principle of focusing on the best interests of the customer and improving fleet performance. We are confident that we can support TLS to consistently deliver the high standard of service that its customers are accustomed to.”
