02-06-07 Huddersfield Daily Examiner - Top trainees bring in cash for charity
Company’s teams raise thousands
A COMPANY in Huddersfield put its managers through their paces to raise £3,000 for good causes.
Fleet management group FMG Support, of St Andrew’s Road, set a challenge to people on its management development programme.
They were grouped into five teams, with each team given a budget of £100 to devise fundraising projects for five local charities.
The charities to benefit were Macmillan Cancer Trust, The Laura Crane Trust, West Yorkshire Forget Me Not Trust, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and road accident prevention campaign Brake.
The two-month training programme led to a variety of fundraising ideas, including sponsored walks, selling greetings cards, producing a calendar and conducting a number of events.
Nick Brown chief executive of FMG Support, said: “Our employees demonstrate our values of pride, intelligence and determination throughout every aspect of their work.
“The programme was developed specifically to further stretch their capabilities, whilst simultaneously giving something back to the community.
“The process took people out of their usual specialist areas to challenge and introduce them to valuable new skills that they can now adopt.
“This will in turn benefit the long-term performance of the business.
“I am delighted they all rose to the challenge and raised over £3,300 for charities in the local area.”
